Update: Spoke to 2nd lvl tech suppoort. said i had a profile due to errors on the line. instead of fixing the error they stabalised the connection reducing my speed dramatically. After nbn fixed error when i raised the issue, 2nd lvl support opened up connectioon to full. Suppoort person was realy nice and helpful, sad the issue wasnt sent to nbn before throtling connection. if i hadnt pushed the isssue i would be paying for nbn fr 2 years but getting worse than adsl...

hi so whilst getting speeds of down to 11mbps doownload and .4 mbps upload on a 50mbps plan.this tickect was created. NBN has been at my house/street all day. these are images of the speeds they say i should be able to get, and what i am getting. Can some one please explain? I dropped to a 25 plan 3 days ago. so by these numbers i should be gettting very close to 25/5. Is TPG throttling my connection? do i have profiles added to incresae stability?

So my latest modem arrived from tpg late february, after about 3 weeks we had to restart the modem to get 5ghz to have internet access. later we have had to try resetiing the modem. Now we have no 5ghz internet access at all no matter what we do. Once again the router/modem is giving us an unidentified netork and a 169...... ip address. Even if i manually give myself an ip address of 192.168.1.105 it still says network is unidentified. I can not even stream on one device whilst another is trying to play an online game with out crashing the game when on 2 ghz. this is 2021 and we are paying good money for NBN. TPG You need to fix your modems or replace with a different model. In the meantime could you please organise a new modem to be sent out yet again? regards Drew....

thanks for the response. yes he did offer this once I expressed there was no way i would be paying for a replacement, under the same argument/reasoning i will not be paying for postage either. I will update after I am recontacted this week. cheers

so was contacted by tech support this afternoon. it has been 12 months since i first signed up to tpg. the tech support said my modem (original one) is out of warranty. My third replacement is only 3 months old or there abouts. so due to this i need to pay for a replacement modem at the tune of $100. Which will get me one of these tplink modems that have constantly failed for me and it would seem many others if this forum is anything to go by. So i pay $100 for a replacement which if history is anything to go by should break in 3 odd months then i will have to spend another $100 for a replacement again and again and again?? I can not understand how you can keep giving me the same modem and expecting a different result, and jow your saying i have to pay for it?

Hi Basil, I believe on my third Modem, the latest one has finally completly failed on the 5ghz frequency. Could someone please contact me about yet another modem replacement. surley there must have been some internal discussion about this junk piece of hardware by now?.

hi, we recieved a text this morning from tpg saying we had an nbn outage and it was nbns issue. check nbn site for our address, they say no outage please contact your isp as it is their issue?

Hi basil, Looks like our modems 5ghz wireless has gone completely. After posting my last post i was able to connect but no access to the internet. the modem was giving me a 169. address. after resarting it today I now can not connect to the 5ghz wireless at all. Connecting to the 2ghz wireless works correctly. I willl PM you my availability for a call back. thanks Drew

Thankyou for the reply Basil. however my "Replacement Modem" is currently in the phase of breaking down, there is no point someone ringing me if it is currently working. but as you have witnessed from your other customers on this forum it wont be long before my 5g wifi stops working, i will respond to this thread when it does. I would hope your senior technician has had a good look at the returned modems and is looking at a different model or brand for future replacements. I wonder how many non technical users just connect to the 2g wifi and dont even realise their modem is fasulty?

hi, i wish i had seen this post earlier. I have been with tpg for about 7 months. My first archer 1600v started to fail on the 5G wifi after two months, causing us to repeatedly restart it, until it got to the point we couldnt even connect to 5G. when i contacted online support they said they have never heard of anything like this and it was an issue on my end. After an hour of troubleshooting with them they decided to send me another modem. 2 months in it is now starting to behave in the same way with the 5G wifi. How can TPG keep giving us these modems and put us through all the stress of having to go through troubleshooting with them when they MUST know this is an issuse with a faulty build design on their modems.

we have just switched from telstra adsl ( 10 years only company available until nbn arrived). we had massive issues with our adsl telstra connection. Telstra advise us that our copper lines were corroded, that someone had patched the line when a pole fell over to make the cable reach the new pole. which was causing dropouts. Telstra confirmed to us the lines would need replacing once we moved to nbn. we are now with tpg nbn. we are getting dropouts slow paused streaming netflix. tpg have engaged nbn over this. The last comment from tpg was the required speed provided by nbn can be between 16 and 40 mbps. we get 22 - 26 mbps. TPG Have conveniently removed their 25 mbps second plan knowing most people on copper cant get near 30 and are unwilling to go to the slowest 12mbps plan so will pay for a 50 plan and only get speeds relative to a 25 plan. pretty poor on both nbn and tpgs part...
