As per the related discussions - I believe a router firmware update was pushed in the background, and now Chromecast/smart speakers are not viewable or "cast-able" on the 5G home broadband network using the supplied Sagemcomm modem. ... @waseef21 - Not sure how it could be a hardware issue - it was working just fine (same hardware!) until about a month ago.    I hope they hurry up with that IT team meeting. Hi @BasilDV and all.   I am having the same issue. Chromecast / Google cast devices (multiple types of Nest smart speaker, Chromecast with Google TV) are not able to be communicated to on the home network.   We're on TPG 5G Home Broadband Premium, using the supplied Sagemcom f@st 5866t router.   At some point in the last month, all of our home Google cast devices went from working and communicating correctly, to failing to connect. Symptoms: no Chromecast button in apps on devices (e.g. smartphone) connected to the same network, all devices displaying as "Not available...Can't see [device name] on this Wi-Fi network..." under the Google Home app.    We have tried: - Resetting speakers/cast devices to factory settings, setting up again via Google Home app - Resetting router to factory settings - Ensuring uPnP (router settings dashboard -> Access Control -> Advanced) is ON   Could you please advise? I agree, purchasing additional hardware to correct the shortcomings of the TPG supplied router is not a solution, especially as this issue only came into existence recently... ... View more

Changing the channel settings didn't help with us either. Interestingly, uploading large files to Google drive didn't crash the 5Ghz wifi. But doing a speedtest instantly did. There is some inconsistency to the issue... ... View more

@jls I don't see how it can be an interference issue - the fact that it fails only during an intensive upload (i.e. speedtest) and the fact that the 5ghz remains visible but "non-connectable" until the router is rebooted are both characteristics that don't fit with interference behaviour, to my knowledge. I suspect the technician just didn't know, and that's the default response they give.    Also, to reference @Joseph_D 's earlier reply, "Our Engineers did however admit that changes were made on the WiFi settings that contributed to fixing the problem."   Thanks for circling back though! @chicaneau @Shane Just after I wrote that last reply, I then went on to write a lengthy message about how I was mistaken, and actually the problem wasn't at all rectified! I may have accidentally deleted the message, but I hope there isn't any fishy message deleting going on by the mods! In summary, I tried a speedtest (speedtest.net) and the 5ghz wifi immediately fails as it gets to the upload part. The device then cannot reconnect to it, and cites an "authentication error". The 2.4ghz wifi continues to work fine. Only restarting the router then fixes it. Very frustrating - I hope this can be made a priority otherwise I will be pursuing a discount on my bill! @chicaneau @Shane Agreed that it can't be defined as an isolated issue if 9 people experience the same problem, but I can say in our particular case that it seemed to self-resolve after while. I.e., we set it up out of the box as instructed (our second unit, the first had been replaced because they didn't know what else to do), and the 5ghz drop out issue stopped occuring after a while, without doing anything special. Manually changing the wifi name (SSID) and/or password seemed to bring the issue on, too. So we didn't do that with our second unit... and the 5ghz seems to be ok now, several months in. ... The exact same issue is happening to us. The 5GHz WiFi fails suddenly and all devices disconnect from it. When you attempt to connect the devices say "authentication error" or "cannot connect to this network". The 2.4 GHz WiFi continues to work. I have been through all of the same router reset and reconfiguration steps. What do you suggest is done here? If the issue is not unique, surely there is some firmware or hardware problem.
