This article provides modem setup advice for NBN services to get you up and running in just a few simple steps:
What NBN technology are you using?
In order to set up your service correctly you need to know the technology type used to supply your NBN service.
Your NBN technology type can be found in the Installation email we sent to you prior to your NBN service activation. Simply search for nbnorders@tpg.com.au nbn installation confirmed in your email inbox to find this email.

Follow the steps below to set up your ASUS DSL AC68U.
1. Ensure your NBN Connection Box is turned on.
2. Plug an Ethernet cable from the designated UNI-D port/Yellow Gateway Port on your NBN Connection Box into the nominated LAN/WAN port (e.g. LAN 4) on your modem/router.
(An email with the provisioned UNI-D port number will be sent to you once service installation date has been confirmed)
3. Plug in the power adaptor and power on the modem/router.
4. Connect your computer or any device to your modem by plugging an Ethernet cable from the device to the LAN port, or you can connect your device via Wi-Fi.
5. Open a web browser (Chrome, FireFox, Safari, etc) and manually key in the wireless router’s default IP address: 192.168.1.1 or enter http://router.asus.com.
6.On the login page, key in the default username (admin) and password (admin).
Note: If you have the QIS page, just click on skip to manual setting to manually configure your connection settings
7.Under Advanced Settings and select WAN, then click on Dual WAN tab
9.Set Primary WAN to: Ethernet WAN | LAN Port 4
Note: (this will be the port that you need to use to connect your NBN NTD/NCD box)
10.Click Apply
11.Go to Internet Connection tab
12.Set WAN Connection type to PPPoE
13.Select Enable WAN to YES.
14.Enter your TPG Account Username and Password.
15. For NBN bundled plan (Internet and VoIP), under the 802.1Q option - Change to Enable. Enter 2 in VLAN ID and enter 0 in 802.1P.
Note: If the said option is not be available, check it on Advanced Settings, click on LAN, then go to IPTV. Set the ISP Profile to Manual, then set Internet VID to 2 and PRI to 0.
Leave it Disabled for NBN Data only plan. (Excluding NBN FTTP Technology)
16.Click OK.
→ You've Determined: You have an NBN FTTN/FTTB
Follow the steps below to set up your ASUS DSL AC68U.
1. Plug a phone cable from your telephone wall socket into the blue DSL port on your ASUS modem.
2. Plug in the power cable and power on the modem/router.
3. Connect your computer or any device to your modem by plugging an Ethernet cable from the device to the Ethernet port, or you can connect your device via Wi-Fi.
4. Open a web browser (Chrome, FireFox, Safari, etc) and manually key in the wireless router’s default IP address: 192.168.1.1 or enter http://router.asus.com.
5. On the login page, key in the default username (admin) and password (admin).
Note: If you have the QIS page, just click on skip to manual setting to manually configure your connection settings
6. Under Advanced Settings and select WAN
7. Click Internet Connection tab
8. Set WAN Type to DSL and VDSL WAN (PTM) .
9. Set WAN Connection type to PPPoE
10. Select Enable WAN to YES.
11. Enter your TPG Account Username and Password.
12. For NBN bundled plan (Internet and VoIP), under the 802.1Q option - Change to Enable. Enter 2 in VLAN ID and enter 0 in 802.1P.
Note: If the said option is not be available, check it on Advanced Settings, click on LAN, then go to IPTV. Set the ISP Profile to Manual, then set Internet VID to 2 and PRI to 0.
13. Click OK.
