IP Address Geolocation Incorrect

https://www.iplocation.net/ points all the respective services to Adelaide... Where I am in Ballarat, Victoria. As others have mentioned this effects the use of streaming platforms and off sets it by 30 mins.. TPG.. we need a better resolution for this.. and more so because we are dynamic IPs, and when a reset. Or power outage happens. The IP changes. Yet still puts us back in SA.. can you please resolve this.

Hi @jncjsmith,

If you are getting a different IP address or location, this has something to do with the 'geolocation' and it's powered by third-party databases. The location information is usually a close approximation, but isn't 100% accurate all the time. Depending on a number of factors, the results from their database may be very accurate or quite wrong.

If your location is displaying incorrectly, the quickest way to correct the issue is to change your location settings with the content provider (the website or app).

Furthermore, ISPs route all their traffic to a fairly central location before it reaches the public internet. As such, regardless of where you are actually located, your internet traffic will appear to be coming from the location of the ISP's exit point.

Let us know if that helps.

I'm still have major issues with TPG assigning me IP addresses that geolocation sites think is in South Australia.
What it takes to get a static IP address that points to Victoria?
Or sadly. I'm going to have to move from TPG that I have been with for countless years

We'd like to take a deeper look into what's happening with your geolocation, @jncjsmith.

If you send me a private message, we'll check things out and get it sorted.

Have sent a couple of replies, to no avail. Going forward whats the solution here being in VIC, and being IP GEO locked to SA, causing all sorts of issues with smart devices?
