Latency issues to oversea servers

Hi all,

I would like to flag an issue with overseas gaming servers. The game in question is World of Tank Blitz which has their APAC server in Singapore. I used to get ~150ms, now I'm getting 250-300ms over the last few weeks. I've tested speed at work (commercial broadband, ~30ms) and on Optus 4G (~150ms). Speedtest to TPG's server is fast so it seems like it's an issue with the way traffic is routed on NBN. I noticed there are other posts which suggest the same issue arise from time to time. Has there been a config change to the servers?

@sw1997 I'm sorry to read that you are having high latency on an Asian server. Can you please post the trace route?

@Joseph_D Thanks for your reply. I replied yesterday but the post was waiting to be approved and now don't know where it went.

Here is a trace to one of World of Tanks' login servers in Singapore.

Hi @Will and @Joseph_D ,

Thanks for your help so far. A technician did come today at around 2pm but he didn't find anything wrong and left. However, the speed issue is definitely here and it's worse at night. I've ran the below at 9:02pm and the speed is about a quarter of what I usually get. I've previously provided similar speedtest and tracert results to TPG support via email when they've contacted before the technician made a visit. Is there anything else I can do?

Yeah im the same too ive had really horrible connection speeds when connecting to Apex legends Servers in Singapore and its been since last week ive noticed the speeds really lacking they used to be decent but something has happened and im not the only TPG customer noticing this and to be honest if it keeps up ill be looking into an other ISP because we should have at the most 120 ms latency when connecting to Asian based servers and i play with alot of friends in asian countries. The connection is really poor and unstable and this isnt what ive paid for in a company that promotes fast internet, and also im paying for the fastest connection and im not even gettin a decent speed.

Hi @19braxta84,

What latency you're getting when connecting to Asian server? Have you tried to connect on designated Australian Server?

NOTE:

If you’re in  Australia, but playing on an North American or Asian server, your latency will be higher because the geographical distance creates a delay between information being sent from an Australian client-side (player’s) connection before it’s received and relayed from the North American server.

Connecting or Playing to a Game server not designated to your area will affect a high latency issue particularly if the Game Developer itself made a specific Server in every location such as SEA / NA Servers etc. If you're having latency issue while playing/connected to the Australian Server please post a screen shot of the latency issue and we'll have it check.
