Hi @Zellcorp,

Our Network Engineers confirmed the known issue of our supplied modem. Please understand that we optimised our supplied modem/router to complement our specifically configured modem settings for security purposes, which means some of the feature of the original make and model is not available or limited.

We provide the modem for all our NBN plans as they are sold as an Internet & Home Phone Bundle. If you wish to have an access with USB feature of the modem/router, you have the option to use a 3rd party modem/router. However, as the Home Phone component of your bundle is encrypted for security, you will need to use our modem if you are to make and receive phone calls.

Let me know should you require further assistance.

That’s a fairly poor response basically your saying we know these routers are garbage but since we bought a whole bunch of them we’re stuck with them now so you’ll just have to suffer. Bad luck. There’s been solutions offered to other users of this router such as the beta firmware solution I don’t care about the VOIP service I would ask again that you contact tp-link and get this firmware for me you can disable my voip service I don’t need it.

23/6/22 Just had a chat with TPG Senior Network Engineer about this problem. TP - Link have a beta firmware to fix this problem but TPG have No interest in looking at this beta to help their cuctomers. The only fix I have is to connect my NetGear R7000P as an AP via the VR1600v2.

The NetGear R7000P is a much bigger unit & I don't have the space on my desk & putting it on the floor means always being careful with my chair or walking around.

I scratch my head in thinking how many VR1600v2 TPG has given to customers only to turn their back when it comes to thinking about customer support.

Why give out Modem Routers with a known firmware problem ! Customer service in my opinion should have jumped on this problem & told the tech guys, you find a replacement Modem Router that we can supply customer that want media sharing.

The neighbours on both sides of me ( with a different ISP ) have media sharing on their 3/4 Smart TV's via the supplied combo router-modem - TP-Link AC2100 & Netgear Combo C6250 they can stream downloaded Youtube vids of 20 & 30 Gb.

TPG, you maybe 1 of the biggest but you're not 1 of the smartest.

Hi @Woodsey55,

TPG loads its custom firmware on our NBN modem/router so that it can match with the system we use to provide you with TPG NBN internet and home phone. This is also done for added security and privacy of the connection. We will take your concern into account for future firmware updates. Thank you.
