How to set up your Netgear Nighthawk D7000 BYO modem for NBN

Netgear Nighthawk D7000

 

This article provides modem setup advice for NBN services to get you up and running in just a few simple steps;

 

First:

You need to know the technology type used to supply your NBN service.

 

Your NBN technology type can be found in the Installation email we sent to you prior to your NBN service activation. Simply search for nbnorders@tpg.com.au nbn installation confirmed in your email inbox to find this email.

Choose your NBN technology type below for the Netgear Nighthawk D7000 set up guide

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 You've Determined: You have an NBN FTTP / Wireless service

 

Please follow the steps below to set up your Netgear Nighthawk D7000.

 

     1. Ensure your NBN Connection Box is turned on

 

     2. Plug an Ethernet cable from the designated UNI-D port on your NBN Connection Box into the  red Internet port on your Nighthawk modem. (An email with the provisioned UNI-D port number will be sent to you once service installation date has been confirmed)D7000.png 

     3. Plug in the power cable and turn your Nighthawk modem on using the Power On-Off buttonD7000(1).png

 

     4. You can connect devices such as PC desktops, laptops or gaming consoles by plugging Ethernet cables from device to any of the 4 yellow LAN ports; or you can connect devices via WiFiD7000(2).png

 

     5. Go to http://www.routerlogin.net in your browser.

 

     6. Log in with your Netgear username and password. By default these are:
          Username: admin
          Password: password

 

     7. On the home screen, click Advanced.

 

     8. Click Setup.

 

     9. Click Advanced Setup.

 

     10. Click WAN Setup.

 

     11. Select Must use Ethernet WAN from the WAN Preference drop down.

 

     12. Click Apply.

 

     13. Click Basic.

 

     14. Click Internet.

 

     15. Select Australia from the Country drop down.

 

     16. Select TPG from the ISP drop down.

 

     17. VLAN ID is disabled for Data only plan, but for bundled plan set VLAN ID: 2. (Applicable for NBN Fixed Wireless only).

 

     18. Click Yes under Does your Internet connection require a login?

 

     19. Select PPPoE (PPP over Ethernet) from the Encapsulation drop down.

 

     20. Enter your TPG username and password.

 

     21. Leave the other settings as they are and click Apply.

 

 

Your Netgear Nighthawk D7000 should now be online. If you are still having issues, please call us on 1300 997 271 for further assistance.

  You've Determined: You have an NBN FTTC service

 

Please follow the steps below to set up your Netgear Nighthawk D7000.

 

     1. Ensure your NBN Connection Device is turned on

 

     2. Plug an Ethernet cable from the yellow Gateway port on your NBN Connection Device into the red Internet port on your Nighthawk modemD7000.png

 

     3. Plug in the power cable and turn your Nighthawk modem on using the Power On-Off buttonD7000(1).png

 

     4. You can connect devices such as PC desktops, laptops or gaming consoles by plugging Ethernet cables from device to any of the 4 yellow LAN ports; or you can connect devices via WiFiD7800(2).png

 

     5. Go to http://www.routerlogin.net in your browser

 

     6. Log in with your Netgear username and password. By default these are:
          Username: admin
          Password: password

 

     7. On the home screen, click Advanced.

 

     8. Click Setup.

 

     9. Click Advanced Setup.

 

     10. Click WAN Setup.

 

     11. Select Must use Ethernet WAN from the WAN Preference drop down.

 

     12. Click Apply.

 

     13. Click Basic.

  You've Determined: You have an NBN FTTN / FTTB service

 

Please follow the steps below to set up your Netgear Nighthawk D7000.

 

 

     1. Plug a phone cable from your NBN wall socket into the grey DSL port on your Nighthawkd700.png

 

     2. Plug in the power cable and turn your Nighthawk modem on using the Power On-Off buttonD7000(1).png

 

     3. You can connect devices such as PC desktops, laptops or gaming consoles by plugging Ethernet cables from device to any of the 4 yellow LAN ports; or you can connect devices via WiFiD7000(2).png

 

     4. Go to http://www.routerlogin.net in your browser

 

     5. Log in with your Netgear username and password. By default these are:
          Username: admin
          Password: password

 

     6. On the home screen, click Basic.

 

     7. Click Internet.

 

     8. Select Australia from the Country drop down.

 

     9. Select TPG from the ISP drop down.

 

     10. Select VDSL (PTM) from the Transfer Mode drop down.

 

     11. Select VDSL2 from the DSL Mode drop down.

 

     12. Tick the checkbox next to Enable This Interface.

 

     13. VLAN ID is disabled for Data only plan, but for bundled plan set VLAN ID: 2 .

 

     14. Click Yes under Does your Internet connection require a login?

 

     15. Select PPPoE (PPP over Ethernet) from the Encapsulation drop down.

 

     16. Enter your TPG username and password.

 

     17. Leave the other settings as they are and click Apply.

Please follow the steps below to set up your Netgear Nighthawk D7000.

 

     1. Ensure your NBN Connection Box is turned on
