I have purchased the above, currently only way to acheive internat connection is to run through existign Archer 1600v modem / router. Can I use the Orbi as standalone and replace TP LInk Archer VR1600v? If so please provide advice on internet conneciton settings as auto setup repeatedly failed

Hi @timc6023 . You can connect Orbi router unit directly to Arris. Put in the normal PPPoE settings. Read through this for how to set VLAN ID.

To add to above question - can I connect Orbi directly to arris CM8200 NBN gateway or do I need to use Modem inline between Arris CM8200 and the Orbi? If Modem required does this need to be the Archer VR1600v supplied by TPG?

Hi @timc6023,

Is the Netgear Orbi RBK852 supports NBN connection? We checked it on google it shows that this is a Mesh-Type router. We do not have information on how to setup the Netgear Orbi RBK852 but we recommend to check with the manufacturer if it is NBN ready.

On the other hand, to setup a 3rd party router to the TPG NBN-HFC you need to configure the device to be a router only with the VLAN ID 2. If not, then you may use your device as an access point instead.
