Hi TPG Communnity,

I want to upgrade my TP-link router I received from TPG, I'm sick and tired of the constant drop outs when connecting to my work VPN and a new router is the only option I see that will solve this issue or moving ISP.

I cannot find any of the netgear or asus routers that I can purchase listed here https://community.tpg.com.au/t5/Modems-and-Devices/List-of-Non-TPG-supplied-Modem-Routers-for-use-wi...

If anyone has an updated link please provide

Hi @nfree . Do you only get dropouts when using VPN or during normal browsing? A new router may not fix the problem.

The Community link you mention contains the Asus RT-AC68U which is the one in the Google link, and some Netgear ones. The Asus only works with a NBN box.

The Community link is for the BYO-router data-only plan (no VOIP phone). This plan does not use VLAN ID. There may be other models suitable.

The other type of plan is bundled NBN/VOIP phone. You have to use the TPG router for phone to work. You can use your own router but phone won't work. This type of plan requires router to support VLAN ID=2 setting. This iiNet article contains links for each type of NBN connection. Then, links for a selection of models showing how to set VLAN ID=2. Models not shown may have similar menu systems to models listed.

Hey @nfree,

It is not advisable for you to purchase a modem/router without making investigation on our end. Send me a Private Message with your account details (Username/Customer ID together with the address on file) and we will run initial tests to identify what causing connection dropouts,

How do I private message (PM) in the community
