Thanks for your time earlier on the emails.

I currently use Archer VR1600v v2 modem with different SSID names for both 2.4 & 5 Ghz bands

I have come across this below by Apple
Use a name that's unique to your network, and make sure all routers on your network use the same name for every band they support. For example, don't use common names or default names such as linksysnetgeardlinkwireless or 2wire, and don't give your 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands different names.

What do you recommend?
Have 2 different SSID's for both 2.4 and 5 GhZ and manually connect the devices to the bands. ??
Or Go with the recommendation and have the same name for both SSID's?

Do you see any issues with having same SSID for both the bands?

Hi @sp

Welcome to the Community!

It will be hard to identify the band that you're connecting to, if they have the same SSID or network name.

We recommend to at least put an identifier for the other band. For example, 2.4GHz SSID = TPG_WiFi, 5GHz SSID = TPG_WiFi_5GHz.

Stay safe.

Hi sp. Using different names allows you to connect high bandwidth devices to the 5G band and slower devices to the 2.4G band. If the 5G reaches all through your house, you can connect devices to it until you notice performance issues.
