Using Archer VR 1600v as Modem Only

SOLVED Go to solution

I have TPG's standard issue Archer VR 1600v modem router and want to find out if, and if so how, I can use it as a modem only.

Reason being: I'm wanting to install NordVPN and am looking at getting a Netgear Nighthawk R9000 X10 DD-WRT FlashRouter which doesn't have a modem but does everything else I want. The flash router will use only one of NordVPN's licenses to cover all devices (10+) in the home leaving the oterh five for mobile devices

Is what I'm trying to do feasable?

Cheers, akranda

Hi @akranda

You may try to bridge the TP-Link Vr1600 to turn it as a modem only device. You refer here.

The setup that you are thinking may or may not work and it is still up to you if you want to proceed with it.

You may try to do further research before investing in a new device.
