Google nest set up

Hello. My current setup is I have fibre to the curb (FTTC) into a Arris CM2800 black box which in turn is connected via Ethernet cable to a TPG supplied Archer VR1600v

Q1, is the Arris black box a modem?
Q2, is the Archer both a modem and router?

I have purchased Google nest mesh system and need some HELP ON HOW TO SET UP. I am reading many different things including:
Option A - Plug the Google nest directly into the black box (archer modem/router not needed at all)
Option B - set up archer modem/router to bridge mode

How do I do this?

@johnphilippa . I replied to your other post.

An Arris box means you have HFC connection. You need to connect the Archer to the Arris, then connect Google to Archer. If you don't want to use the voip phone service, you can try the Archer in bridge mode.
