Get online support
I signed up for TPG 5G home broadband a few months back and at first it was ok but has progressively got slower and slower to the point where during the evenings (peak time) it is down to a woeful 0.5 - 3 Mbps.
In the early hours of the morning around 4am, it runs at a modest 60-70Mbps. Acceptable but not great.
During the day when the upload speed is extremely important to be able to work from home but it is just not reliable enough.
I believe TPG uses Optus 5G. Compared to Telstra 5G (using mobile phone) I'm getting nearly 200 Mbps.
I've done all the recommended steps to try and improve but no success. 3-4 green lights of signal strength and tested both WiFi and Ethernet connection to router.
I see this topic has been posted many times by other customers and the response by TPG is always the same.
Paying less doesn't always mean value for money as it equals a lot of frustration and doesn't work when you need it.
Next step is to change Internet service providers.
Hi @clemmo21, we'd like to take a closer look at your connection and make sure you're maximising your service. You can send us your customer ID via private message.
Thanks,
Aubrey
Hi Aubrey, right now my Internet speed is faster than it has ever been. It is running at 125Mbps download.
Weird or coincidence that I've never reached those speeds before but now I contact support and it is super fast.
What about when it is after 6pm tonight when it is peak traffic?
Last few nights it has been around 3Mbps or less.
Great to hear that it's working now as it should. I can have someone from the tech team to contact you tonight, to do some real time testing with you and perform troubleshooting.
Are you free for a call around 6-7PM?
Aubrey
Hi Audrey,
It is now super slow. It seems to be up and down which is super annoying.
0.7Mbps !! See attached image.
Yes, I will be home between 6-7pm. My mobile is on my account profile.
We'll have the team to contact you tonight then so they can take a closer look at your connection.
Aubrey
Hi @dtdazza1234
Are you connected to the 2.4GHz or 5GHz band network?
How far are you from the modem/router when it plays out?
