How to set up your Technicolor TG789VAC V2 BYO modem for NBN

Technicolor TG789VAC V2

 

This article provides modem setup advice for NBN services to get you up and running in just a few simple steps;

 

First:

You need to know the technology type used to supply your NBN service.

 

Your NBN technology type can be found in the Installation email we sent to you prior to your NBN service activation. Simply search for nbnorders@tpg.com.au nbn installation confirmed in your email inbox to find this email.

Choose your NBN technology type below for the Technicolor TG789VAC V2 set up guide.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 You've Determined: You have an NBN FTTP / Fixed Wireless service

 

Please follow the steps below to set up your Technicolor TG789VAC V2.

 

     1. Ensure your NBN Connection Box is turned on

 

     2 Plug an Ethernet cable from the designated UNI-D port on your NBN Connection Box into the red WAN port of your modem. (An email with the provisioned UNI-D port number will be sent to you once service installation date has been confirmed)Techni.png

 

     3. Plug in the power cable and turn your TG-789 on using the Power button.Techni2.png

 

     4. Connect a device to your TG-789 via WiFi or Ethernet cable and go to http://10.1.1.1 in your browser.

 

     5. Log in with your TG-789 username and password. By default, these can be seen on the barcode sticker at the bottom of your TG-789.

 

     6. On the home screen, click Setup Wizard in the top right-hand corner

 

     7. For Fixed Wireless: Select TPG for bundled plan and Others if you're on a Data Only plan as the Internet Service Provider.

         For FTTP service, only choose Others.

 

     8. Select Ethernet as the WAN Interface.

 

     9. Select PPP over Ethernet as WAN Type.

   

     10. For Data only plan, VLAN Enabled is OFF and for bundled plan VLAN Enabled is ON and is set to 2 (Applicable for NBN Fixed wireless only). 

 

     11. Enter your TPG username and password

 

     12. Select Next and continue with the Wizard in setting up your WiFi.

 

     13. Select Finish at the end of the Wizard.

 

Your internet service should now be online. If you are still having issues, please call us on 1300 997 271 for further assistance.

 You've Determined: You have an NBN FTTN / FTTB service

 

Please follow the steps below to set up your Technicolor TG789VAC V2.

 

     1. Plug a telephone cable from your active phone wall socket into the grey DSL port on your modem, then turn it on.Techni3.png

 

 

     2. Connect a device to your TG-789 via WiFi or Ethernet cable and go to http://10.1.1.1 in your browser

 

     3. Log in with your TG-789 username and password. By default, these can be seen on the barcode sticker at the bottom of your TG-789.

 

     4. On the home screen, click Setup Wizard in the top right-hand corner.

 

     5. Select TPG for bundled plan and Others if you're on a Data Only plan as the Internet Service Provider. 

 

     6. Select VDSL as the WAN Interface.

 

     7. Select PPP over Ethernet as WAN Type.

 

     8. For Data only plan, VLAN Enabled is OFF and for bundled plan VLAN Enabled is ON and is set to 2

 

     9. Enter your TPG username and password

 

     10. Select Next and continue with the Wizard in setting up your WiFi.

 

     11. Select Finish at the end of the Wizard.

  You've Determined: You have an NBN FTTC service

 

Please follow the steps below to set up your Technicolor TG789VAC V2.

 

     1. Turn on your NBN Connection Device and plug it in to the active telephone wall socket.

 

     2. Plug an Ethernet cable from the yellow Gateway port on your NBN Connection Device into the red WAN port of your modem.Techni.png

 

     3. Plug in the power cable and turn your TG-789 on using the Power button.Techni2.png

 

     4. Connect a device to your TG-789 via WiFi or Ethernet cable and go to http://10.1.1.1 in your browser.

 

     5. Log in with your TG-789 username and password. By default, these can be seen on the barcode sticker at the bottom of your TG-789.

 

     6. On the home screen, click Setup Wizard in the top right-hand corner

 

     7. Select TPG for bundled plan and Others if you're on a Data Only plan as the Internet Service Provider

 

     8. Select Ethernet as the WAN Interface.

 

     9. Select PPP over Ethernet as WAN Type.

   

     10. For Data only plan, VLAN Enabled is OFF and for bundled plan VLAN Enabled is ON and is set to 2

 

     11. Enter your TPG username and password

 

     12. Select Next and continue with the Wizard in setting up your WiFi.

 

     13. Select Finish at the end of the Wizard.

  You've Determined: You have an NBN HFC service

 

Please follow the steps below to set up your Technicolor TG789VAC V2.

 

     1. Ensure your NBN Connection Box is turned on and is connected to the coaxial wall socket.

 

     2. Plug an Ethernet cable from the UNI-D 1 port on your NBN Connection Box into the red WAN port of your modem.Techni.png

 

     3. Plug in the power cable and turn your TG-789 on using the Power button.

 

     4. Connect a device to your TG-789 via WiFi or Ethernet cable and go to http://10.1.1.1 in your browser.

 

     5. Log in with your TG-789 username and password. By default, these can be seen on the barcode sticker at the bottom of your TG-789.

 

     6. On the home screen, click Setup Wizard in the top right-hand corner

 

     7. Select TPG for bundled plan and Others if you're on a Data Only plan as the Internet Service Provider

 

     8. Select Ethernet as the WAN Interface.
