Why cannot I take calls and sms?

Hi All,

I recently bought a prepaid sim card. It can only take calls in my pixel 7 phone. Cannot take calls or recieve msgs in my Samsung M20 phone. Is there any specific reason for that? Even in pixel 7 it shows only 4G signals, eventhough it has 5G capability. In M20 it shows 4G signals(Do not have 5G) and can use internet. But no calls or sms. I need sim to be used in samsung M20 phone. What can be the solution?

Have you tried manually selecting your network?

Yeah I tried. I contacted TPG and it was said that TPG uses 4G for voice calls while my devices uses 3G and lower levels for voice calls. So the conclusion is samsung M20 cannot take voice calls or sms in TPG network.

Hi @ashokapradeep . The 3G phone networks are being closed down. Soon there will be none.

On your M20, is there an option for LTE?

You can check with Samsung if your model or variant can do LTE. If so, how to activate it.

Some models had low cost variants that lacked LTE.

Thanks mate for the reply. Yes it has 4g lte, but its not helpful. Anyway now I'm using TPG sim in my pixel 7. so i can take calls. But internet speed is terribly slower. I'm not happy about my purchase. Anyway I'm happy about community feedback and customer feedback from TPG. Its really good. Eventhough I will switch back to some other sim card if I do not get speedy internet
