I am having similar problems. I am gradually advising all my email correspondents of an alternative email address, ahead of our intention to cancel the TPG service. This is being done with a heavy heart after years of loyalty to Netconnect, Chariot and then TPG. It's a long and exhausting project. What is of concern is that many email correspondents ask you to click on "change my preferences", and then you can expect an email to come through to your current address (i.e. at TPG) with a link to advise the change of address. Except, time and time again, that link does not arrive, or arrives after its time limit has expired. So I am now having to phone outfits to advise the change. I would hope that this is not a ruse by TPG to frustrate its clients. If it is, I promise you it is only increasing my determination to get out of here and find another internet provider as well. Don't worry @BasilDV , it would help me too. I don't think I changed anything - just went out of Outlook and dealt with other things on the computer for a while, came back to it and the bugging popup message had ceased. Thanks for your help.

Good questions @david64 No similar message comes up when I use our Outlook account with Microsoft 365. It doesn't normally come up when I am using Outlook 2016 to access TPG emails. I would have no idea whether our email address and password are configured in Outlook. I just open Outlook 2016 and access our TPG email account. For now, anyway. I haven't tried ticking the box to save the password, sorry. Things seem to work just fine, then they don't. This current palaver seemed to be started by the fact that I was responding to "change your preferences" emails.

Hi Basil By "webmail", do you mean via the TPG postbox? I don't use it - Outlook is more multifunctional. The message that keeps popping up when I try to access emails (and is on the screen right now, interrupting my typing) is attached under "choose file". I basically cannot reply to emails at present. thanks David

Also having difficulties with sending emails from Outlook. I am using the "update your preferences" link on emails from a number of organisations, including professional and charitable, as I am gradually changing over addresses to another, more reliable, account. They then send an email to our TPG account to verify that I want to make the change. This can take ages to come through, and the latest trick from TPG is that I cannot send the reply to confirm it. Why ever not? I don't want to DM you, TPG. I just want a service that works while I continue as a TPG customer. In the midst of all this, we received a cheery email from TPG promoting their mobile service. Really???

@FleetAdmiral you are not alone - I currently cannot receive emails via Outlook from our TPG account. I ended up making a phone call to TPG. Grab a cuppa, as they will take a while responding, but this seems to be a technical issue that is affecting a lot of us. They apparently are working on the issue for me.

The "delayed emails" issue is an ongoing bugbear with TPG - you need to know that this is impacting people's lives and productivity, @BasilDV . If I am dealing with a third party and they promise to send me an email (e.g. with a code for two-part verification), it is both frustrating and defeats the purpose of the action if it doesn't show up in the TPG inbox very soon.

It's likely not just you, @Shelliejean1 . I've been in phone contact with TPG today as we cannot receive any new emails via either the TPG postbox or (my usual way of accessing) via Outlook. Fortunately the power bill came through just beforehand. I was just getting "send/receive error" in Outlook when I tried to update received emails. Nothing like that seems to happen in the postbox. Really helpful when organisations are requiring you to respond to an email sent to the TPG address! Ended up then in a half-hour wait to directly talk to someone at the power company to change the email address they send to. TPG support have sent it on to their engineers to try and address the situation. However, I have already commented on here that I think they are deliberately running down their email service. It's getting worse daily.

Yep, I am doing much the same. Had to sign up to TMC to keep TPG email running while I go through the exhausting business of advising contacts and companies of an alternative email account which will eventually supplant this one. I suppose I should be grateful for TPG giving us 12 months grace... It becomes clear, however, as I increasingly use the alternative service, just how the standard of service at TPG has slipped over the years. Increasing amounts of spam getting through, yet emails sent from our TPG account frequently not getting out to contacts. Latest one was increasing difficulty with using distribution lists to send out Landcare group emails - so many would come back 'undeliverable'. Suddenly now not a problem. Time for TPG to admit it's been running this service into the ground. How can we expect any better from TMC?.

Thanks Aubrey - this is not just using the Outlook app on my mobile; this is using Outlook on our laptop. It is crucial, as I need to send out group emails via distribution lists, and for that I need a computer. David

100% agree. They have all our email addresses - surely the courtesy of an email to all of us is not beyond them. I found out about this via an article on Twitter from the Australian Financial Review. Even that article headline just referenced iiNet customers - it was only when I opened the article (kudos to AFR for not hiding it behind a paywall) that I found out it also includes TPG customers.

I appreciate the thoughtful advice you both offer. We have an Outlook email address through Microsoft 365 account, but MS customer support is even more abysmal than TPG's. We could painstakingly advise all those companies and organisations that have our @TPG.com.au address in our personal details to change over to the @outlook.com address, but as you say there are many of them. And I really don't expect good service from Microsoft - they reserve that for business. So what other ISPs are worth approaching in Australia? This is like QANTAS all over again... Regards David

At least you got notified directly. I don't go onto the TPG site other than to check in here when there are problems! But we access tog email via Outlook, and I would have expected that TPG could have emailed all customers with this news. Appalling customer relations.

We have used Outlook to access and use TPG email for at least 15 years. I. Have distribution lists for a voluntary group of which I am secretary set up on there. I need to know whether this facility will continue before I agree to a sight-unseen transfer of our email address to a company I have never heard of before. I am surprised that TPG, as the, you know, EMAIL PROVIDER, hasn't deigned to send us an email re this important change. I found about it yesterday via an AFR article accessed on the service formerly known as Twitter!

Hello again @Aubrey And today, just like that, my tpg emails are again visible in the Outlook inbox on my mobile phone. As to who made it happen - TPG? Microsoft? - I have no idea. Whether it lasts beyond the November '23 deadline set by Microsoft for axing "other" accounts in Outlook, who knows, but for now we can consider this as 'solved'. Would be interested to know, if it was solved at the TPG end, what you had to do... regards David

Thank you for your suggestions, @Aubrey I presume that by the "built [in] mail app on your phone", you mean Gmail? I have a Gmail account, and tried to follow the steps, including the info kindly supplied by @david64 , but I got nowhere because "couldn't connect to server" (TPG server??). So still no closer to a solution. The info in the Youtube clip is too confusing, sorry. It's not clear, for instance, which password the presenter is referring to at various points in his presentation. I'm thinking the solution emerging is to inform all our email correspondents that we will be leaving TPG and going to the MS 365 account for email. A long and painful process, but it seems it will have to be. Nothing else is working. David

Hi @david64 well, I tried working through the steps outlined in the website to which you referred me. One problem, and it's a recurring one with advice from TPG Support too - this website references the Outlook 365 format, not the new Microsoft 365 which unleashed itself on us last weekend. Consequently, the "Account settings" page (item 1 in the writer's instructions on configuring an additional account in MS Outlook) is redundant - my account page in the new Outlook accessed via Microsoft 365 looks nothing like that, and has no "File" tab to click on. I've put the question out on the Microsoft Community Support page too, and it's telling that there has been no response from MS itself. A community member has told me that the effective closure on Outlook of my TPG account by MS is so that (as recommended by MS) I will go to an outfit called GoDaddy for access to my TPG emails. Coincidentally, GoDaddy is apparently now owned by Microsoft. Quelle surprise. I continue to contend that this matter is one for TPG to take up on behalf of its customers, @Angeli . Why should we need to do the ferreting around to find out the truth (and sift out the conspiracy theories)? Isn't that your job? Last week, when I first contacted TPG Customer Service about email issues, I was told that I had to number my questions. In my post on here, I numbered the questions. Hi @Angeli I checked the options available there. I think what has happened is that Microsoft has moved ahead and left TPG behind. It is no longer useful to advise us how to access Outlook 365 to add an email account - now it is a matter of accessing Microsoft 365, which isn't listed by you there - and MS 365 doesn't allow other accounts other than gmail or hotmail to be added. This is why I would humbly submit that it is an issue for TPG to confirm with Microsoft and advise your customers accordingly, rather than one for individual customers to try and figure out as it happens to each one. regards David

Thanks Angeli I had contacted Microsoft yesterday, but have had no response as yet. I presume their customer service, such as it is, is all in the US. I was hoping that if this is not just happening to me, then TPG as an email provider could find out the facts on all our behalf. What is the process to follow to "try different versions of Outlook" on my phone? Please refer me to instructions on Youtube, information sheet, whatever. thank you David

I have been dealing with TPG Customer Suppport, but I think this issue needs wider consultation. We have been TPG customers for at least 15 years, and our TPG email address is now crucial to our everyday life, including communication with many businesses. A few years ago we signed up with an annual subscription to Office 365, with which I was familiar from work. We continued to rely on our TPG email address, even though Microsoft provided an @outlook address with Office 365. Until last week, it was possible for me to receive and reply to messages received on our tpg email account via Outlook on this computer AND on my Android phone. It would appear that with the introduction of Microsoft 365 to replace Office 365, Microsoft has decided to freeze out "private" email addresses from their platform. As such, we can no longer access our TPG email from Outlook on the computer (unless we use Outlook 2016, which presumably will become obsolete now and thus non-functional?), and my Outlook on my Oppo phone, which is now titled "Microsoft 365" no longer delivers or sends emails. It strikes me that this is a TPG - Microsoft issue, rather than one for me as an individual customer of both corporations to try and fight through. So here's my issues: (1) can I again set up connection to my existing TPG email through Microsoft 365? (2) if that can be done, can I again have use of Outlook on my Android phone? (3) if neither (1) or (2) are feasible, how long will Outlook 2016 be functional for? (4) and if none of the above is viable, how do I access TPG emails easily on this computer, and on my phone, if Outlook is no longer the portal to them? Lots of questions; looking forward to some clear answers. David
