How to set up TP-Link Archer VR900 BYO modem for NBN

This article provides modem setup advice for NBN services to get you up and running in just a few simple steps;

 

First:

You need to know the technology type used to supply your NBN service.

 

Your NBN technology type can be found in the Installation email we sent to you prior to your NBN service activation. Simply search for nbnorders@tpg.com.au nbn installation confirmed in your email inbox to find this email.

Choose your NBN technology type below for the TP-Link Archer VR900 set up guide.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 You've Determined: You have an NBN FTTP / Wireless service

 

Please follow the steps below to set up your TP-Link Archer VR900.

 

     1. Ensure your NBN Connection Box is turned on

 

     2. Plug an Ethernet cable from the designated UNI-D port on your NBN Connection Box into the yellow LAN/WAN port on your TP-Link router. (An email with the provisioned UNI-D port number will be sent to you once service installation date has been confirmed)

     3. Plug in the power cable and turn your TP-Link modem on using the Power button on the side of the modemArcher VR9002.png

 

     4. Connect your computer or any device to your router via Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi and go to http://tplinkmodem.net or http://192.168.0.1 in your browser.

 

     5. Login with your TP-Link router’s username and password. By default, these are:

           Username: admin
           Password: admin

 

     6. On the home screen, select Advanced and Operation Mode

 

     7. Select Wireless Router Mode

 

     8. Click Save and the modem will reboot to save the changes

 

     9. Select Basic then select Internet

 

     10. Select Other for ISP list then select Internet

 

     11. (For Fixed Wireless) Disable VLAN ID for Data only plan and Enable for bundled plan with VLAN ID: 2.  (For FTTP) VLAN is diabled

 

     12. Select PPPoE as Connection Type

 

     13. Enter your TPG Username and Password

 

     14. Click Save

 

Your TP-Link Archer VR900 should now be online. If you are still having issues, please call us on 1300 997 271 for further assistance.

  You've Determined: You have an NBN FTTC service

 

Please follow the steps below to set up your TP-Link Archer VR900.

 

     1. Ensure your NBN Connection Device is turned on

 

     2. Plug an Ethernet cable from the yellow Gateway port on your NBN Connection Device into the yellow LAN/WAN port on your TP-Link modem

     3. Plug in the power cable and turn your TP-Link modem on using the Power button on the side of the modem

     4. Connect your computer or any device to your router via Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi and go to http://tplinkmodem.net or http://192.168.0.1 in your browser

 

     5. Login with your TP-Link router’s username and password. By default, these are:

           Username: admin
           Password: admin

  

     6. On the home screen, select Advanced and Operation Mode

 

     7. Select Wireless Router Mode

 

     8. Click Save and the modem will reboot to save the changes

 

     9. Select Basic then select Internet

 

     10. Select Other for ISP list

 

     11. Disable VLAN ID for Data only plan and Enable for bundled plan with VLAN ID: 2

 

     12. Select PPPoE for Internet Connection Type

 

     13. Enter your TPG Username and Password

 

     13. Click Save

  You've Determined: You have an NBN FTTN / FTTB service

 

Please follow the steps below to set up your TP-Link Archer VR900.

 

     1. Plug a phone cable from your telephone wall socket into the grey DSL port on your TP-Link modemArcher VR900Eth.png

 

     2. Plug in the power cable and turn your TP-Link modem on using the Power button on the side of the modemArcher VR9002.png

 

     3. You can connect devices such as PC desktops, laptops or gaming consoles by plugging Ethernet cables from devices to any of the 4 yellow LAN port; or you can connect devices via WiFi

 

     4. Connect your computer or any device to your router via Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi and go to http://tplinkmodem.net or http://192.168.0.1 in your browser

 

     5. Login with your TP-Link router’s username and password. By default, these are:

           Username: admin
           Password: admin

 

     6. Select Basic then select Internet

 

     7. Select Other from ISP List

 

     8. Select VDSL for Modulation

 

     9. Disable VLAN ID for Data only plan and Enable for bundled plan with VLAN ID: 2

 

     10. Select PPPoE for Internet Connection Type

 

     11. Enter your TPG Username and Password

 

     12. Click Save

 

Your TP-Link Archer VR900 should now be online. If you are still having issues, please call us on 1300 997 271 for further assistance.

  You've Determined: You have an NBN HFC service

 

Please follow the steps below to set up your TP-Link Archer VR900.

 

     1. Ensure your NBN Connection Box is turned on

 

     2. Plug an Ethernet cable from the UNI-D1 port on your NBN Connection Box into the yellow LAN/WAN port on your TP-Link modemArcher VR900.png

 

     3. Plug in the power cable and turn your TP-Link modem on using the Power button on the side of the modemArcher VR9002.png

 

     4. Connect your computer or any device to your router via Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi and go to http://tplinkmodem.net or http://192.168.0.1 in your browser

 

     5. Login with your TP-Link router’s username and password. By default, these are:

           Username: admin
