HI David, thanks again for trying to help What is the colour of the lights on FTTP box? Power, Optical and Alarm should be green (or orange/yellow). Power and Optical is green, INI-D 1 is orange (same on working and non working) Which UNI-D port are you using? TPG email says which one but usually D1. Its D1, we have never removed/moved the cable from when set up, definatley D1 Try VLAN ID 2; see what happens. You mean VLAN ID2 and Priority = 0 Use this exact string as password instead of your own password: noPassword Ok Will try that, (also do we need the @TPG.com.au after or just the Username, seen several posts that say use @TPG but they were a couple of years old (tried both but not with these changes you mention) Select ADVANCED > Advanced Setup > Router/AP Mode. Check that Orbi is in Router mode. Yes definatley Router mode, AP was tried and we stuffed the Orbi and couldnt get back into admin console so ended up doing a reset and setting up again also, We have IP address "get dynamically from ISP", DNS = Get Automatically and Router MAC set as default I did find this (TPG's own docs) that state to set the DNS to something specific?? - TPG Broadband Settings | TPG Support

Yep, tried that, even reset and set up Orbi as new no VLAN, followed the steps to the T in the docs/link - How to set up Netgear Orbi RBK50 for nbn FTTP | TPG Support tried username and username@tpg.com.au Password is correct (because they confirmed on the phone to TPG "support" before they said nothing else we can do to help you, go call Netgear) It Still sits and shows "No internet"....waitied 5 mins with each change (Does it need to sit connected to box on the wall for more than 10mins or so to replicate??)

Has anyone succesfully set up FTTP and an ORBI Mesh system ? My friend had an ORBI set up previously and working but they upgraded to FTTP and the TPG tech would not set it up with their modem and made them use their own and its grossly inadequate for their house. (doesnt reach the ends of the house) They tried calling support and they are extremely useless and will not help unless it their own router (told them to leave them as soon as they can because this is pathetic support and they are well known for it) Ive seen this link here - How to set up Netgear Orbi RBK50 for nbn FTTP | TPG Support but it does not mention VLAN but some forum posts mention that this needs to be set up, anyone with an ORBI and FTTP set up can advise what they have because TPG support were useless and would not help ??

Hey @david64 thanks again for your help As is always the way!, the house that I helped get set up with an Orbi Mesh just recieved a letter that they are upgrading the network and their house will be moving from FTTN to FTTP, In all the docs I can see most of the set up covers both (ie the settings they have) but are you aware if anything needs to change once they cutover or should the settings be the same Hopefully FTTP increases their speeds as they were only getting on average about 35mps on a 50mps plan!!

This was it mate, thank you, I had the VLAN ID2 in the Orbi aswell, as soon as I removed it from Orbi, it started working...Cheers @david64 wrote: @onemadgooner . Ok, I tried that, seemed to be succesful but still getting no Internet, Tried calling TPG who were (as predicted) useless and tried to tell me that the Archer 1600v cant be put into Bridge mode (Despite multiple threads of people that eventually got it working.) I asked to be put through to 2nd level support, she put me on hold and said they told her the same thing I can see that its been put into bridge mode but still not getting any internet (the dashboard shows that and the fact im not getting any IP's etc seems to point to the fact something is wrong, That is one question, where or how do I enter the Login details (TPG Username/Password) when adding a bridge mode option ?? (They are in the Orbi but the fact its nmot showing "internet" leads me to believe it needs to be added on the Archer too ?? What am I missing

Hi Guys Helping some relos set up a Orbi Mesh system, Didn't realise till after they bought it they have FTTN which is the phone line not a LAN port so plugging straight into Orbi wont work, Assume I need to Bridge the existing Archer 1600V modem first and connect to the Orbi but cant find instrustions on how to do set up on both anywhere (and highly doubt the TPG overseas Helpdesk will have a clue or be bothered to help!!) Looking for complete instructions on connecting an Orbi RBR350 system to Archer 1600v (FTTN) in bridge mode Anyone done this or has the knowledge to write down step by steps as I cant be the only or first one to do this??

Any update ?? Been down 2 business days now, the Helpdesk team still cant give me an eta..... this must be affecting 1000's in this area (all providers) but there is still no outage on the TPG website which is a worry

Thanks Riezl It would not be hard to implement (run a query on all that connect to Exchange "X" and email planned maint is scheduled on XX/XX/XX @ 7am) for example .....not hard but would cut out alot of angst with your customers os being blindsided

Hi Guys, Any update on the Pendle Hill exchange Optical Node replacement Internet been down since 9am yday......Called the "helpdesk" and quite frankly that was a complete waste of time....."We dont have any update from NBN"................ Well go call them and find out! Can someone give me an eta please !?!?

Why are you doing "planned maintenance" in the middle of the day!!!!! (Pendle Hill) do it from 11pm to 5am when noone is using it !!! 5 mins to go and still not up, gtee this is going to drag on again Also, why are you not emailing affected customers "Before" planned maintenance so people that work from home can make other arrangements.....Frustrating and not really acceptable in this day and age

Hey Basil Not sure if you did anything your side or if as the NBN tech mentioned, the PCD would do some auto callibrating over 24hrs (although it was more like 48hrs) but Im now getting low 40's pretty regularly on speed tests so its definatlet sped up Cheers for your help and advice mate

Hi Basil It was only installed last Friday (and fixed on Tue)..... Its been less than a week so not sure a reset will help I am using a Netgear Nighthawk x4s which is a much faster and more powerful router than the supplied TP Link one and I have 27 devices connected including multiple Google Homes, LifX lights and smart plugs etc and the ISP provided routers do not cope with this many things connected to it unfortunatley Before I swapped it out I was getting about the same speeds, I do see your point though so I will try when I get back home again doing speed tests with only the one wired in Surface device (so no other devices on the network) and compare the 2 routers results and let you know if its quicker on the supplied TPLink, can you (or anyone else out there using a Nighthawk) provide any tips for fine tuning settings on the Netgear for faster speeds ?

Anyone.....?! I also have used the network test on the Netflix app on the Samsung smart TV (which is wired on not wifi) and it is constantly only giving 27mbs also (same if i take the LAN cable out and connect wirelessly) More proof that the network is only dishing up about half the speed it is suppose too! (50NBN plan)

Hi Guys What are my options when I’m not getting the minimum advertised speeds I’m on the NBN50 (HFC), your site advertised “average nightly speeds of 42mbps”…….. I’ve done several speed tests and I’m averaging about 27-28mbs max constantly I’ve tried wirelessly and wired directly into the router but still I don’t get any quicker than 27-28 I’ve tried multiple tools/websites (speedtest.net, fast.com & speed test applications) and all give the same results. I also disconnected the wireless radios and unplugged all of the CAT cables so the only device on the network when doing the test was the wired in Surface Pro I’m using so it’s not network congestion……the speed is just no where near what you are selling or saying I’m meant to be getting minimum I also had my connection drop out 20mins after the initial install (just after he left of course) and 3 days later another NBN tech came out, he replaced all the connectors (on the wall, Outside box and the street) and replaced the Black box………….. He also advised the signal is great but still, Its no quicker than 27-28MB’s sec I’m the only one on the channel my router so its not that (and wired yields the same results) While its still faster than ADSL I had, I’m paying for NBN50 but getting nowhere near what you advise I’m suppose too and give all above, its just your network is not providing the speed it should……what can be done here? (and calling the helpdesk isn’t an option as they just run through scripts and don’t think outside of them…..very frustrating!!)

Yeah its working ok, streaming to telly, chromecast, Smart devices are alot quicker response wise but you say "typical eveening speeds", im not seeing anywhere near 42mbs between 7-11pm is my point thats all

yeah the installer did an extrememlly dodgy job, the plate ripped out of the wall already from the pressure of the cable behind, he drilled straight into gyprock with no plugs or plate behind it....Managed to go to bunnings and fix it myself, after unglugging and reconnecting everything it started working again so its obviously popped off or lose somehow....... up and running again and going ok (although nowhere near the "average 42mb/s in peak time" you guys promised but quicker than what I was getting on ADSL so cant complain too much ;-)

So I've been with Telstra for probabably close to 15 years, Decided with the NBN Change to try TPG. Cable was installed today, NBN tech helped set it up,all 4 solid lights on the NBN box so we tested and did some speedtest.net testing and went to google.com, Internet working no probs 20mins later, the 3rd light starts to flash (upstream), 3.5hrs later, still flashing, tried the reboot, nothing, called support, not able to help and need to log a job 20mins working and now dead.......Not a great first impression guys

Hi Guys Just signed up to TPG after 15+ years With Telstra! I have a question around set up I know I will be getting a TPlink VR1600V router but as I have alot of smart home products (Lights, Google Homes, Alexa's and multiple wifi tablets/phones, the Teltra provided one was stuggling and dropping devices once I hit about 25-26 so I had gone out an bought a Netgear Nighthawk X46 (D7800)....Its pretty quick and have had no issues with it since (last year or so) My Question is should I just keep the VR1600V as backup and connect the Nighthawk as the sole device or should I (or do I have to ) set up the VR1600V as the modem, then bridge the Nighthawk for all wifi connections ? Whats the best option or is there other options I can do that may be better ?....Looking for advice/best practice
