How to set up your ASUS AC1500 Dual Band BYO router for NBN

The Asus AC1500 router can be used for NBN FTTP, Fixed Wireless, FTTC and HFC technology.

This article provides router setup advice for NBN services to get you up and running in just a few simple steps:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 Physical Connection

 

1. Ensure your NBN Connection Box (NTD/NCD) is turned on.

 

2. Plug an Ethernet cable from the designated UNI-D / Yellow gateway port on your NBN Connection Box into the WAN port of your ASUS router. An email with the provisioned UNI-D port number will be sent to you once service installation date has been confirmed.

3. Plug in the power cable and turn your ASUS router on using the Power button.

4. Once the Power and Internet light are on, then you may proceed with the router configuration.

 Configuration via QIS (Quick Internet Setup)

 

NOTE: If you are logging into the Web GUI for the first time, you will be directed to the Quick Internet Setup (QIS) page automatically.

 

1. Connect your computer or any device to your modem by plugging an Ethernet cable from the device to the Ethernet port, or you can connect your device via Wi-Fi.

 

2. Open a web browser (Chrome, FireFox, Safari, etc) and manually key in the wireless router’s default IP address: 192.168.1.1 or enter http://router.asus.com.

 

3. On the login page, key in the default username (admin) and password (admin).

4. The wireless router automatically detects your ISP connection type.

TPG is using PPPoE connection type and it will ask for a username and password.

You need to enter your TPG account username and password, then click next.

5. Assign the wireless network name (SSID) and security key (Password) for your 2.4GHz and 5 GHz wireless connection. Click Apply when done.

6. Your Internet and wireless settings are displayed. Click Next to continue.

7. Read the wireless network connection tutorial. When done, click Finish.

 Manual Configuration (If needed)

 

1. Connect your computer or any device to your modem by plugging an Ethernet cable from the device to the Ethernet port, or you can connect your device via Wi-Fi.

 

2. Open a web browser and manually key in the wireless router’s default IP address: 192.168.1.1 or enter http://router.asus.com.

 

3. On the login page, key in the default username (admin) and password (admin).

Note: If you have the QIS page, just click on skip to manual setting to manually configure your connection settings.

4. Under Advance Settings, click on WAN. Go to Internet Connection tab, then select PPPoE option for your WAN connection type.

5. Enter your TPG username and password.

 

6. Click Apply to save the changes.

 Wireless network configuration

 

1. Connect your computer or any device to your modem by plugging an Ethernet cable from the device to the Ethernet port, or you can connect your device via Wi-Fi.

 

2. Open a web browser and manually key in the wireless router’s default IP address: 192.168.1.1 or enter http://router.asus.com.

 

3. On the login page, key in the default username (admin) and password (admin).

 

4. From the navigation panel, go to General > Network Map.

 

5. On the Network Map screen and under System status, you can configure the wireless security settings such as SSID, security level, and encryption settings.

6. On the Wireless name (SSID) field, put in a unique name for your wireless network.

7. From the Authentication Method dropdown list, select the encryption method for your wireless network.

 

8. Key in your chosen password (WPA-PSK Key).

 

9. Click Apply to save the changes.
