I was forced to change my email to "the messaging company". Now I'm being told I have to pay $3.50/mth for that? I didn't sign up for this. I am already paying a high price for my internet, and now I'm being forced to pay for email? I have 8 email addresses. On top of my monthly payments, to have to pay several hundred dollars on top is ridiculous. Especially when there are so many free email services available. I have stuck with TPG over the years because of the reliability, even though I could get a cheaper deal through other providers. After 15+ years, might be time to change. I'm guessing I'm not the only one who is pished off about this new charge we weren't told about, when we had no choice but to change to these thieves.

Hi, I've had no internet since last evening. I have rebooted the router several times. I had it turned off several times for over an hour with the power cord out. I've checked the router settings on the computer and everything appears to be ok. I'm wondering if someone could do a line check for me please? Thanks so much in advance! Edited to add: the power light is on,on the router. The WAN light is flashing 2-3 times a second. The WLAN light is flashing around twice the speed. They both stop for around a second, then start flashing again. No other lights are on, including the internet light.

A while back now, I was forced into NBN, which included a landline phone bundle. As we never used the landline, there was no phone connected to it. I recently decided to connect a phone. It is brand new and says it's compatible. However, I can't get it to work. I noticed there were lots of similar posts in this forum, but none of the solutions were posted, as they were sent to PM. I assumed that my phone would be connected via the router, and have it plugged in to the "phone 1" port. I did try phone 2 as well, but neither work. I also tried a splitter from the wall plug. That didn't work at all! If I try to call the number, it says "your call could not be connected at this time, please try again later OCA00188". If I try to call out from the handset, I get beeps like you would get calling a phone that is currently in use (the old engaged signal). I have rebooted the router, left it off for half an hour, but still can't get this wretched phone to work! Any suggestions? Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Hi Shane, thank you for your reply. I did make another payment on the weekend, which came out of my account on Monday. How long after you receive the payment will I get my email back? I really need it. I will definitely contact my bank because as I said, that account is always loaded. I certainly don't want this happening again! Cheers.

If the account is inactive, why is my internet still working? I run a small business and need the email to be working. This is very frustrating! I have no idea why my usual direct debit didn't work, because it's a work account that always has funds available. Oh well, I guess due to a TPG glitch, I will now lose business. Thank you for your reply. I appreciate you getting back to me.

My email has not been working for the last 3 days. It keeps asking me for my passwords, which when I enter, still won't work. I have multiple TPG email addresses and none are working. If I try to log in via the TPG site, it says the username and password can't be found. Can anyone help me as to why this might be happening? Thank you in advance.

The technician came as promised and found an issue up the street a bit. A connector of some type had broken, which he fixed. When asked, he said that would also be the cause of losing our internet when it rains. That issue should be fixed now too. Well, it rained yesterday and overnight and our internet is gone again. It cuts back in intermittently, but then drops out again. Thankfully for our internet, it doesn't rain much here (sucks for the farmers though), but when it does, we lose our connection. Is there any way of having this rain issue fixed once and for all? We never had this issue with aDSL2, even 2 years ago when it rained for 3 months solid. I so wish we could go back to aDSL. As per my previous messages, please send text message only. I won't answer the phone. Thanks in advance.

Alan, is your email working again? I've had no trouble since early this morning (although I haven't been on my computer much today, but everything seems to be OK). They are saying that the issue has been fixed, so hopefully you're not having anymore problems either.

Hi Erika, Yes, the technicians have been in touch and confirmed the 2nd of January between 1 and 5pm to pay a visit (I hope they send a message if they can't make it for any reason. I understand some jobs can take longer than expected). So far since this morning, I've had no further email issues, so from my perspective, it seems to be fixed. I hope the other members who were having issues have also noticed things are working for them too. Thank you once again, especially for keeping me updated every step of the way. You really have been wonderful. I hope you and those close to you have a lovely Christmas tomorrow. I actually don't have to work Christmas day this year, so am very excited to have the day at home!

I discovered this morning that you just need to hit OK on the prompt box, not keep entering the password. Still a pain in the neck, but not as big a pain as having to keep re entering the password. I have 8 email accounts checking, all with different passwords, so I was struggling to remember which password went with which account! For the last half hour, I've not had a box or an error, so hopefully it's behaving itself now. My internet hasn't dropped out in over an hour either......but I'm not getting my hopes up there!

Hi Erika, thanks for the reply. I would prefer an sms from the engineering team as I have speech issues, so don't like using the voice phone. My mobile number should be on file. Let me know if it's not an I'll PM you. Any time is OK to receive a message, as I am not working tomorrow. I'd love to know why we are guaranteed to lose internet whenever it rains or storms. 100% guarantee. Always at the worst possible time! I had none of these issues with aDSL2. The last few weeks it has become more and more unstable regardless of the weather. I've had to buy extra data on my phone so I can use it as a hotspot on my computer. My neighbour is having major internet issues too. I'm not sure who their ISP is. I wonder if it has something to do with lines not being upgraded when NBN was forced upon us? We don't have fibre to the building, so don't know if that's an issue or not (we have fibre to the node or something.....not sure what that means)? I get low internet speeds most of the time. Lower speeds than with aDSL2, even though I have paid for faster speeds. Trying to watch a YouTube video is worse than dial up speeds. I hit play, then go have a shower, get dinner ready and then I might have part of a video to watch (but lately the net has dropped out 65 times in that time, so if I get 30 seconds I'm doing well!) Regarding the email, as stated in my thread, when the email tries to check for new messages, I get a box pop up asking for the password for each account. If I put the correct password in, it appears to accept it and any new messages are downloaded. I will then trigger an error saying password was incorrect and when it checks next time, the password prompt box pops up. It's not accepting the password. It's a pain in the proverbial to have to keep re entering the password each time the email client checks for new messages!

I have to say, I'm a bit over this lousy internet service. When I still had aDSL2, I never had a single days issues. Now, after being forced into NBN, I am experiencing constant dropouts. Sometimes for minutes, other times for hours, occasionally for days. Today seems to be hours, which could possibly lead to days. I keep getting text messages and emails offering for me to move my mobile to TPG. Fat chance. It's my only hope having any internet at the moment! I'm having to use it as a hotspot so I can run my small business from home. The connection is up and down more than a bride's nightie these days. It will just come back on and bang, it's gone again. The 3rd and 4th light on the router keep flashing. I have rebooted the router......multiple times. I have unplugged it and left it off for 15 minutes. I have done all the trouble shooting things and it's still happening. Now today, to add to the dropouts, the mail server is having issues. It keeps asking me for passwords for each account. I insert password and it ignores it. Next time mail is checked, same thing happens. When I put the password in, it will download any new messages, but then still show an error that it couldn't connect, then I get asked for password again. I'm guessing being this close to Christmas i will be unlikely to get a response from anyone, but would appreciate it if someone could look into it for me and see if there is a reason we keep having these issues. It's always a given that when we get a storm, we have no internet for at least 6 hours afterwards, but we haven't had any recent storms to make it play up. It would also be good if someone could tell me why I lose internet whenever we have rain or a storm, for at least 6 hours. Thank you in advance. I hope you all have a lovely Christmas.......with internet.....because it's unlikely we'll have any internet before new year I would also hope that if we don't get any useable internet before new year that we are compensated for not having it.

Hi All, I have multiple email addresses linked to my account, which are used for various different things. As of 2 days ago, my main email has completely stopped working. It tells me that the password is incorrect. Unable to send or receive messages for the Tpg account. An incorrect password was entered. The next time you send or receive messages, you'll be asked to enter your user name and password for this account. Server Error: 0x800CCC90 Server Response: -ERR [AUTH] Invalid login Server: 'mail.tpg.com.au' Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC92 Protocol: POP3 Port: 110 Secure(SSL): No What is even more bizarre is, if I try to log into Post Office or My Account, it says that username doesn't exist. I have checked all the settings in my email client and all are as they should be. I haven't changed my password and I know the password I am entering is correct. All other email addresses appear to be working. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can fix this? Thanks in advance.

Since 1pm my NBN is dead. I have done all the usual troubleshooting, but nothing has worked. If I log into the router it says internet not available. On the router, the power light is on. WAN light is flashing. Internet light is out. WLAN light is flashing. Can someone help me please? Thanks so much.

You swapped plans when you're only getting 17 or 25mbps download? Upgrading to the 100 package is NOT going to increase your download speed. It's a big misconception on their part and borders on being fraud. If you were signed up for 50 and you were getting 17 or 25, then signing up for the 100 isn't going to get you faster speeds. Believe me, I went through this in depth with them a few days ago, which is why I got them to drop me back from the 100 to the 50. If you are only getting max 25, then you're better staying with the 50. Don't waste your money. It won't work. Not until the lines are upgraded. You will be megaly disappointed.

I may change that, but for now, I have a working internet connection. Much more than I had 8 hours ago!!! It was the first one I clicked on and it worked. When I have more time to play, then I'll see what 802.11g does. At the moment I'm getting download speeds of 20mbps, which is exactly what I was getting before the router decided to carp itself. Remind me why they said NBN was supposed to be so great, when my download speeds are way less than what I was getting before I was forced to change to NBN?

GOOD NEWS!!! I'm back online! I decided to have a fiddle, because I had an issue a number of years ago when my aDSL router suddenly died. It took me a bit to remember what I'd done way back when. This is what I did if you happen to find yourself suddenly without a connection: Login to router (I managed to get there using the ethernet cable, but still took me a few goes to get in) Click on home network Click on WLAN settings. Expand Advcanced Settings Under 2.4 GHz Change Transmission Mode to 802.11b only (by default it's set on 802.11b/g/n) Change Channel to 1, 6 or 11. I set mine on 11 as there is someone else close to me who is using channel 1 **. Scroll down, hit save. Give it a minute to set and it's done! Just like that. **To find out what channel your neighbours are using, on windoze, open a CMD window. type in netsh wlan show all then enter. Scroll down to near the bottom to find the other networks. On Mac, hold down the Option key then click the wireless icon in the top menu bar. You'll then see your network details. To see wifi used by others, hold down the option key and then hover the cursor over the name of the network in the list. A text box will pop up for that network. Repeat for any others that show up. Any wifi connections that you can detect will show up and show what channel they are using. Hopefully you don't have any issues, but if you do, that was my tweak to fix.

It's one of those cheap and nasty "we'll give it to you for free" huawei things. I should have known it would be an issue. My guess is TPG got a million of them for 5c each, which means they were probably over charged. Thanksfor your help. They don't seem that responsive on here today so might have to call them. That in itself is an issue.

I did a reset. I cleared everything out. Everything is still dead. I was able to login to the router briefly but then lost access. I tried on theother computer plus my phone, same thing happened. I'm starting to suspect this 3 week old router is stoofed.

We were forced to upgrade to NBN almost 3 weeks ago. Every day we have had to reboot the router several times a day due to the connection dropping out. However, today that isn't working. The connection is completely dead. No amount of rebooting is making any difference. On the router, the power light is on. The WAN light is flashing. The internet light is off. The WLAN light is flashing. All other lights are off (we don't have a phone hooked up). I have done the usual trouble shooting things, including turning off and unplugging the router for 30 minutes. I have changed the phone line cable to a brand new one. Nothing has changed, it just stopped working. Initially I was able to log into the router, and the settings all appear to be OK. I can now no longer log into the router as it is completely dead. I just get an error page telling me the page is not secure. I have been into the network settings and they are all OK. Everything is set to automatically detect. This is becoming really frustrating as I'm now having to use my mobile to get an internet connection, which isn't ideal when I should have a working NBN connection that I paid for! Please help! Thank you.
