Hi, My VR1600 gives full speed without a problem. Make sure that your computer (or whatever end device you're connecting with) can handle Gb speeds. Some older PC's only have 10/100 ethernet. You need Gigabit (10/100/1000) ethernet Some older WiFi extenders only have 150 or 300Mb/s speeds Use the 5Ghz band WiFi for 1300Mb/s (2.4Ghz only gives about 450Mb/s). Regards, Leigh

Hi, Today I recieved a phishing Email saying that my Credit Payment was declined and that I could update my details by clicking on the Link (of course I did not click the link I am not that easily conned). The senders Email was pretending to be TPG Internet, however you can clearly see it is from rodcharles@westnet.com.au From: "TPG Internet" <rodcharles@westnet.com.au> To: MyEmail@tpg.com.au Date: 20 Jun 2022 20:39:48 +0100 Subject: Payment should be received before your billing cycle renewal. Please arrang to Block this sender from sending anything to TPG. TPG needs to create a SCAM reporting Email address so that users can easily report a TPG Scam directly.. Scamwatch will not do anything, TPG can block senders/abusers IP so that they (the scammers) cannot send anymore scam Emails to TPG members. Regards, Leigh

Hi, Have you removed all Telephones and ADSL Splitter Filters from your household telephone lines? Did you ever get faster speeds when you first connected? If yes, then you might have a similar problem to what I had a week or so ago. Hi, I have a Telstra Wingle (4G+, WiFi, USB Dongle). I have use it seamlessly with the VR1600V when the NBN connection goes down. It has a Telstra SIM card in it. Last week I went to the Telstra shop to get it unlocked (because their pricing is too high) and I was told directly that it could not be unlocked because it has Telstra Branding. And that was the end of that. I've since found out that Aldi SIMs are on the Telstra Network and that the Aldi SIM should work in the Telstra Wingle. I'll let you know next Month if it does. Did Telstra give you the Network unlock code or the forgotten password unlock code? I'm sorry to say, but your dongle is most likely still "locked" to the Telstra Network and that is why you cannot connect Regards, Leigh

Hi all, Reporting back after the NBN visit: NBN Tech came, pulled apart and tested every Telephone Socket in the house (3 of them). I'm sure he was trying to find a Customer fault so he could go to lunch early. Finally he disconnected the House from the Street Pit and traced that the fault was in the pit. There is a small (cigarette packet size) junction box in the pit with 3 cables going to it. All he did was cut all 3 cables off and joined only 2 of them back together (the 3rd cable is now sleeping at the bottom of the pit :) ). The Tech was not very talkative after opening the pit. I can only guess that the 3rd cable went back to the Pillar/exchange and it was somehow causing the fault. After plugging everything back in the way it was I ran a Speedtest. 45.47M. Hi all, MY FTTC stopped working on Thursday night :( I noticed that the NBN speed seemed a bit slow. I checked my speed and found that I was only getting 1.8M (normally 48M) I turned off WiFi on the Router just to be sure that the kids weren't downloading some monster of an update or "something". I tested the speed again.......no improvement. I rebooted the Router........no improvement. I power cycled the NBN NCD.... then nothing..... No connection..... The NCD would not connect. Power light = Solid Blue Connection light = flashing Red. DSL light = off LAN light = off I rang TPG to report the problem. We went through the normal things, like cycle power, reset buttons, check lights etc.... The Consultant ran some tests from TPG end and finally advised me that the problem would be escalated. I was told to leave the NCD connected. I received a text on Friday morning about NBN Technician visit. NBN Tech is booked in for Tuesday 18th September. I read on one of the forums that the second light is actually the Reverse Voltage Status Indicator. The NCD is currently turned on and connected (flashing Red and clicking) Should I leave the NCD turned on or should I unplug it until the Tech arrives? I'm Currently using the old 4G Dongle and the whole family is finding out the difference between unlimited Broadband and 20GB/Month 4G...................... very painful (and expensive). On the bright side it is convenient that it plugs directly into the VR1600V and works seamlessly Regards, Leigh.

Hi, If you are going to use Guest Bandwidth, then you should make sure that your Master Bandwidth Control is set and saved first. I have NBN50 so I set my Master Bandwidth to 19800 up and 48000 down Then you can set and save your Guest Bandwidth I hope that helps. Regards, Leigh.

Hi @hamidnbn I just followed the instructions that came with the kit and plugged her in. I didn't get the solid blue lights but that is a whole other FTTC story (it's posted on this Forum). If you get the solid blue lights then plug in the Modem and try to connect. If you don't get solid blue lights then wait an hour or so before calling for support. Good Luck Regards, Leigh

Hi @Julien_M I've been PM'ing with Erika, about this and another related problem, but I wanted some information to be able to be shared with other members that might have come across the same situation. I have to admit that you guys on this community can get things done quickly and efficiently, but us users should not have to rely on this Community Forum to fix a "self serve" problem (and your time is probably better spent heping members with more important problems than this one). Tonight I have successfully managed to change my contact details by including my Home phone number as well as my Mobile number (at least two phone numbers ??). This was not a logical solution, but it was a solution none the less. Personally I still think that the webpage needs to be updated to accept a Mobile number as "at least one phone number" Regards, Leigh.

Hi All, Tonight I tried to "Update Contact & Payment Details". I'm a new user, so my old Email address is no longer valid. I input my new TPG Email address then ticked the acknowledgement and finally clicked on "Update Details Now" button. After that I immediately get this error But I have already input my Mobile number. I thought that a mobile number would be the logical choice of phone number because if the NBN is down I won't have any other phone to be contacted on. I think that you need to update your system to allow Mobile phone numbers as a legitimate "phone number". Regards, Leigh

Hi Erica, Thank you for following up (I wonder if I would get this far without your help). A TPG Rep rang me just before 18:00 tonight. My NCD was connected for 27hrs. She advised me that my service could not be activated remotely and a Technician will need to visit. A Tech has been booked to come out and (hopefully) activate my service next Tuesday 19th June. Is it still worth trying to connect every couple of days or will I be just waisting my time? Regards, Leigh

Hi Erica, The NCD has been connected and turned on for 24Hrs as requested. Nothing has changed. The lights are still blinking and the NCD is still clicking away (very annoying in the bedroom at night) I have not received any phone calls from case manager today. Did you know that, with FTTC, when the NCD is connected and turned on that the Landline is automatically turned off? I must disconnect the NCD so that I can use my ADSL. I need to get some work done. I can only leave the NCD connected and turned on between 9AM and 3PM There is a crew that have been digging around the corner from me but I do not know if it is related to my problem Regards, Leigh.

Hi again Erica, Thank you for your fast reply, If NBN post that my address is "ready to connect" then why does it take 2-30 days to connect to the NBN? 24hrs is already too long to be without ADSL (as mentioned above, I work from home). If it doesn't connect tomorrow then I can only leave the NCD connected during the day 9:00-15:00 Will it help if I PM you the MAC Address of the NBN Device (although you should already have it because someone in Sydney has written my customer id on the label)? Hi Erica, Thank you for your reply. Your case manager did ring me today at 12:10 to see if the NCD was connected (it was). He said he would run some tests and ring back later. He rang back at 13:35 and asked me to connect the Router to the NCD. After confirming that I had connected correctly he asked me to describe the status of all the lights on the NCD. They were the same as described in the above post (Power=solid,Connection=blinking,DSL=blinking and LAN=off) I asked him about whether I should change the username from tpg_acs@tpg_acs to myusername (I had not seen your Reply at that time). He advised that it should be changed so I connected the Router to my PC and now it is done. He has advised me that I must leave the NCD and Router connected for 24 hours so that NBN can Activate. I asked him what will happen next when if I am still not connected tomorrow and he says that if that happens we will work on it tomorrow. So, because the NCD is connected, we have no phone and no ADSL. I am using my Telstra 4G Dongle as an expensive way to stay in touch and do my work from home. Do you still need best time and number? Hi, For those times when NBN "drops out" Will TPG offer 3G/4G Mobile Broadband Backup for NBN customers like Telstra do? I have been sent the VR1600V Modem/Router and while I'm waiting for NBN Activation I have trialed Mobile Broadband by plugging in my Telstra 4G Dongle into the USB Port on the back of the Modem. Hi all, TPG rang me a few weeks back to tell me that my area was ready to connect. I wasn't ready to commit on the spot so I told them that I needed time to do some research first and asked them to ring back in 2 weeks. After this I started reading some forums about connections in my area. A guy down the road from me posted "when I plugged in the NCD, all the lights turned on within about 30 seconds" When I saw this I rang TPG and signed up. I received my VR1600V & NBN NCD (Network Connection Device) on Thursday. I read the instructions (yes I'm one of those few). I disconnected all other equipment from my phone points to give the NCD the best chance. The instructions say to plug in the NCD. Turn it on an wait for the blue lights to be solid blue (this may take up to 15 minutes). After 30mins: The blue lights were still blinking. The power light was solid blue. The Connection light was blinking, The DSL light was also blinking (not quite as fast as the Connection light). And the NCD unit was clicking quite often. After 1hr: The lights were still blinking so I pressed the reset button and waited some more. After 2hrs: The lights were still blinking so I turned it off and re-connected my ADSL2+ After 2 ½hrs: I rang TPG. The operator told me that NBN reported my service as still "in progress" and that a case manager would ring me tomorrow. That didn't happen. On Friday: I tried connecting again. Same story..... lights blinking and no connection. On Saturday: Finally, a guy from TPG rang me. He said that I had to leave the NCD connected for 24hrs so that NBN could trace and activate my service. I told him that sounded like rubbish and that I cannot be without internet for 24hrs. He could not tell me exactly when I should connect for this 24hr trace. He also told me to connect all the equipment including the VR1600V (which was contrary to the instructions). Last night I connected the NCD & VR1600V for 8hrs. Still got blinking lights My questions: Is the 24hr trace rubbish? Should I connect all equipment or just the NCD? IF I connect all equipment; should I change the username and password to my own username before connecting (currently it is tpg_acs@tpg_acs)? The tpg_acs password is not known to me so I'm scared to change it without asking. Why cant a TPG or NBN Tech come out and activate it for me? I need this problem fixed before Telstra cut the phone line and I lose my ADSL2+ Please help Regards, Leigh
