I was just about to post a similar message to this TPG community site about my own TPG email filters - they have not been working for months. I have had incoming email directed to spam, or bounced back to sender, or not received. This is a screen shot, below, of the filtering page. RMS1

Hi, It is March 2024. So far as I know, my TPG email has still not been transferred to TMC. I am still able to access webmail via the TPG web address. When is this transfer likely to occur? Will it occur? Thanks, RMS1

This is a general inquiry. I have had a TPG NBN broadband (and phone bundle) account for my laptop for some years, and am happy with it. Now and then it cuts out for various reasons (NBN maintenance, occasional faults etc). When there is an interruption to service is there a backup way to switch the laptop settings to access the TPG 4G/5G network temporarily, and if not, can it be provided to subscribers? I am not likely to use much data during these interruptions - would mainly want it only to maintain email and to access a small number of websites if necessary (e.g. to pay bills online etc). Would not be doing any video streaming. Having a separate, permanent pre-paid 4G/5G service is not a financially viable option when you only require it for short periods. Thanks.

No I haven't sent any emails today to other Hotmail addresses. I've followed your advice and have just sent an email to the same Hotmail address, using TPG's webmail. I haven't had a bounceback error message.

After the failure to deliver the message twice via my TPG address, I re-sent it via my Gmail address, from my email client (Thunderbird) with no problem.

I am using an email client - Mozilla Thunderbird. I've been using it for many years. I am only getting the error message on the Hotmail email address - I regularly send email to this address. It has only happened today.

Replying to my own message: Using the information in the Delivery Status Notification, I have clicked on the Spamhaus link. It reports no issues with Client Host [60.241.0.38]. Is there anything else I am supposed to do?

Hi, I regularly send email to a Hotmail address without any problem. Today I have twice tried to do so, and have both times received a delivery status notification (failure), as follows in the cut and paste below. Is the fault at TPG or Hotmail, and what can be done to solve it? This is what I have found: The Mail app in my old iPad (IOS 9.x) works well when my TPG account is turned off (or disabled) in the email account settings. When the TPG account is enabled the app closes down on the screen as soon as it starts, but it still runs in the background unseen. Double-tapping the button at the bottom of the screen allows you to swipe it up and off. I believe the In/Out Port settings are correct, as are all the other TPG settings (In: 995, Out: 465, SSL enabled). The problem is with the iPad Mail app itself - I think it developed a glitch when turned on some weeks ago, encountering a particular email. The iPad screen persists weeks later in showing the Mail app as having one unread email. I've tried turning off and restarting the iPad to refresh the Mail app, but it doesn't work. I have downloaded and installed another email app which can run in the old iPad (attempts to install other email apps have failed because the iPad is too old to run them). I've had no trouble at all in setting up my TPG email account on the alternative app (AltaMail).

Thunderbird: POP3. IN: Not SSL, Port 110; OUT: Not SSL, Port 587. Android mobile phone (Samsung Galaxy): POP3. IN: TLS security, Port 110; OUT: Not SSL, Port 25.

Yes, I have previously had a look at those settings - there isn't any consistency of settings among them. I have an android phone, a PC laptop running both Thunderbird email program and a spam checker called Mailwasher. All three apps run without any problems. I don't have the settings in front of me, it will take awhile to record them and post them here. I could do that tomorrow. I should point out that these problems with the iPad email app only started recently - I have used the same settings for years with no issue. I started up the app one morning and something went wrong, the app closed down immediately - all described previously. Perhaps the app now has a glitch - I don't know. I've turned the iPad off and rebooted, but to no avail. The iPad is old, and can no longer be updated. It's useful for a quick look at email in the morning, as it's quick to wake up.

The Port numbers and settings I mentioned were automatically generated by the email app in the iPad - I didn't choose them. I have tried your settings and they don't work either. The email app is behaving as I described.

Hi, I have posted about this problem recently but it persists. I have an old iPad which I use to quickly check for email. The email app has three email accounts, all of which have worked well until recently. Suddenly, for no obvious reason, the email app has begun to close down only a couple of seconds after it starts. It does not appear fully open on the screen, but when you double-tap the button at the bottom of the screen you can see the opened email app in reduced form, and you can slide it upwards to close it. By process of elimination I've traced the problem to the TPG account. The email app works properly if the TPG account is temporarily turned off. There is something in the TPG settings that the email app doesn't like, but I can't work out what it is. I got it working last week by adjusting the In and Out port settings, until this morning, a week later (Sunday). I turned the email app on this morning, and it failed again (as described above), even though I have not altered any settings. I've deleted the account and reinstalled it, but the email app stilll fails to open. The automatic settings are: In: SSL, Port 995. Out: SSL, Port 587 I do not have this problem on my other email devices (phone, laptop). Thanks, RMS1

So what you are saying is, it's not TPG's fault nor problem, and I have to tell someone with a BigPond email address to find out from someone at BigPond what the problem is and how to fix it. This is despite the fact that it is happening to many people with a TPG account, not just me (nor anyone else on this thread), and seems to be a consistent, general issue, not an individual one. Is it not possible for the techs at TPG to contact the techs at BigPond to find out what the problem is? Yes or no?

I, too, found out yesterday (Monday 24 October) that two emails I've sent in the last week from my TPG address to a BigPond address were not received, and did not go into their spam or junk folders, and there was no fault message feedback. This is a recent problem, as all emails to the BigPond address have previously been received. I've resorted to using an alternative, non-TPG address, which I reserve for emergencies, to email my contact. Clearly someone at TPG needs to talk to someone at BigPond to fix this issue. If no one has yet done this, why? RMS1

Hi, Yesterday I deleted the TPG account from the iPad and then installed it as a new account. The email app is now working properly again. After it began working, though, I had to make an adjustment to one of the settings, as in the list of email accounts (such as "GMail" etc) the app indentified the account by my name rather than as TPG. Thanks. Yes these settings would seem to be correct but the iPad email app opens for a second or two, then closes. I've tried all the port and security options you have referred to. The email app was working yesterday without any problem, but it is refusing to work today. (If I temporarily turn the TPG email account off, the email app works perfectly well.) In iPad Settings, either the altered settings are immediately verified and saved, or the verification process goes on and on, and I have to abort it by closing the Settings down. I'm assuming you don't have to wait three or four minutes for verification to take place. I am thinking of deleting the account from the iPad and reinstalling the account again.

Hi, Suddenly my iPad email program fails to open, although I have not altered any settings. In the Settings section I've traced the problem to my TPG email address, as, by process of elimination the other email addresses are still working. I think the problem is the TPG server port numbers, probably the incoming server port. The current settings are: Incoming server port: 995 Outgoing server port: 587 It is a POP account. I have tried substituting to Incoming server port 110 but although it is accepted when saved, the iPad email program still won't open. Thanks, RMS1

Hi, Yes, there were 9 photos attached. She was eventually able to send them to me at an alternative email address (Gmail), totaling about 18MB as recorded in the incoming email. From what you say, if encoding was done it might have exceeded 20 Mb. Thanks, RMS1

Hi, Recently a friend travelling overseas emailed some photos to a group of email addresses including mine. Everyone received the emails with the photos except me. However, I received all other text-only emails, sent from the same Hotmail address. Is there an explanation for why I didn't receive the emails with the photos? Thanks, RMS1

Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure of the mechanics of this when setting up. If switching from NBN Broadband to Home Wireless Broadband, what happens with the NBN box and the existing TP Link Archer modem? Does the new modem plug directly into the wall socket where the NBN box currently plugs into?

My questions might apply to other group lists besides Broadband Internet. Today I received an email from TPG saying that the monthly fee for my NBN Broadband is to increase. I've been offered to transfer to a 4G Home Wireless Broadband plan at a lower monthly fee. The reason I have the NBN Broadband is so that I can use a home phone as part of a bundle - I am paying an extra monthly fee for unlimited phone calls. I am also reasonably happy with the NBN plan for streaming to my TV's Fetch STB, for viewing Netflix films and other streaming services, plus chromecasting to the TV set, and also for using my mobile phone for various apps when home. In general I don't have buffering issues and dropouts. I am on the 12 Mbps plan and am quite happy with it. If I transfer to the 4G plan, will I definitely lose the use of the home phone, or is there some way I can keep it? If I don't have any problems with buffering and dropouts on the NBN plan, and the download speed is acceptable, can I be assured that the 4G Wireless Broadband will be as good, and certainly not worse? Hi, Do you have an answer yet, as to what is causing the problem, and how it can be fixed? I have sent you all requested innformation. At present the organisation I've previously mentioned still cannot send emails to my TPG address, as they are being blocked. I've worked with this organisation for about the past 15 years, I've had a TPG email address for nearly three years, and have not had this problem until last week. Thanks, RMS1

Thanks for your reply. I don't have the bounce back message although I have asked for it to be forwarded to me. I'll ask gain if they still have it. Normally I don't log in to the TPG post office for web email. I use Mailwasher on my laptop to alert me to incoming mail and to remove spam and other unwanted email before it gets onto the computer, and then I use Mozilla Thunderbird as email client. On my Samsung Galaxy phone I use the standard email app, and the standard app on an old iPad.
