Hi, I have an NBN Cable Broadband SL Bundle Standard plan with TPG.  I recently changed address and took my existing home phone number across to my new address.  Everything is working as it should. Today I received a phone call to my home phone number, claiming to be from a Telstra representative.  He told me my NBN box was an old second-generation box, it would soon not work, and was going to be replaced.  He said a technician would arrive at my address to make the replacement. I was inclined not to believe him, mainly because Telstra is not my internet provider.  I also thought that if the NBN box was to be replaced, I would first be notified by TPG, as it is my provider.  He insisted that Telstra and NBN were partners, and that I had to organise with him to arrange for a technician to visit.  He also had my address listed as the address I moved from about two months ago.  He had no record of my present address.  He asked for my present address and I refused to tell him. I would like to know if this was a scam phone call, or whether the NBN box is to be replaced, and if so, should TPG, not Telstra, be organising this and notifying its customers Thanks, RMS1 ... Hi, I have a TPG/NBN broadband and home phone bundle subscription that includes the extra $10 per month for unlimited phone calls.  Whenever I try to ring a "13" number I get an engaged signal. why is this happening? I have no trouble ringing those numbers on my mobile phone, but when I am home I prefer to use the home phone - that's what I'm paying for. Thanks, RMS1 ... View more

Hi, I have emailed TPG twice with this query, below, since last Sunday, and have received no response. I have an NBN-TPG broadband subscription.  I am emailing on behalf of a sick friend who has the same type of subscription.  She has completely lost her internet connection at the NBN box.  She has been without TPG internet for some weeks, perhaps months, and is paying a monthly subscription. Would someone at TPG be able to advise please?  Because of her illness she needs the internet connection reinstated or repaired as soon as possible. This is the set-up: Her NBN box is a NetComm Wireless unit, model number NDD-0300.  A cable is attached at one end to an old telephone wall socket, which was installed by Telstra.  There is no modern pin-type wall socket for the NBN cable - the building is an old block of flats.  The other end of the cable is plugged into the NBN box at the socket where it's marked as "Wall Socket".  She tells me that when she began her NBN-TPG subscription some time ago an NBN technician attached the relevant cable.  The internet connection has progressively got worse over time, and now does not work at all. I have taken two photos of the old wall socket - one from front-on, and the other from the right side where the cable is attached.  Will send if required. I think there is something wrong at the wall socket preventing the NBN box from getting a proper link. Only one light on the NBN box is solid blue - it is the on-off power lght.  The light immediately to the left side of the power light is intermittently flickering on and off. The other two lights (DSL and LAN) are not turning on at all. Would TPG be able to access and test the NBN connection and line for a signal? In order to do this, I will provide my friend's residential address, email address, mobile and and home phone number via private communication to a TPG technician.  It may be necessary for TPG to arrange for an NBN technician to visit the premises. This is a general inquiry.  I have had a TPG NBN broadband (and phone bundle) account for my laptop for some years, and am happy with it.  Now and then it cuts out for various reasons (NBN maintenance, occasional faults etc). When there is an interruption to service is there a backup way to switch the laptop settings to access the TPG 4G/5G network temporarily, and if not, can it be provided to subscribers?  I am not likely to use much data during these interruptions - would mainly want it only to maintain email and to access a small number of websites if necessary (e.g. to pay bills online etc). Would not be doing any video streaming.  Having a separate, permanent pre-paid 4G/5G service is not a financially viable option when you only require it for short periods. Thanks. ... View more

Hi, I regularly send email to a Hotmail address without any problem.  Today I have twice tried to do so, and have both times received a delivery status notification (failure), as follows in the cut and paste below.  Is the fault at TPG or Hotmail, and what can be done to solve it? Hi, I have posted about this problem recently but it persists. I have an old iPad which I use to quickly check for email.  The email app has three email accounts, all of which have worked well until recently.  Suddenly, for no obvious reason, the email app has begun to close down only a couple of seconds after it starts.  It does not appear fully open on the screen, but when you double-tap the button at the bottom of the screen you can see the opened email app in reduced form, and you can slide it upwards to close it.  By  process of elimination I've traced the problem to the TPG account.  The email app works properly if the TPG account is temporarily turned off. There is something in the TPG settings that the email app doesn't like, but I can't work out what it is.  I got it working last week by adjusting the In and Out port settings, until this morning, a week later (Sunday). I turned the email app on this morning, and it failed again (as described above), even though I have not altered any settings.  I've deleted the account and reinstalled it, but the email app stilll fails to open. The automatic settings are: In:  SSL, Port 995. Out:  SSL, Port 587 I do not have this problem on my other email devices (phone, laptop). Thanks, RMS1 ... View more
