Ordered new router yesterday. Cost appox $99, freight $10. Bank has debit only for the $10! Why?

Thank you Shane. I imagine I should install the new router physically before I ask for technical people to call me! It has not arrived yet. In the meantime, can you spell out step by step exactly how I can PM you. Please don't just give me a link to the instructions on the Forum. I have tried following those but find that the destination address is fixed for the example.

I have ordered a TP-Link VX420-G2v, and am looking in advance at the setup procedure. I haven't found anything about the VOIP. How do I set my telephone number? Or does it (or any other setting) come preset? Also can I change the name. I seem to remember I had that option with the HG659.

I would like to replace my TPG supplied (2016) HG659 FTTN router with another set up for TPG. What is best telephone number or email address to arrange this please? NB BasilDV: still cannot work out how to PM you. Sorry!

Hi BasilDV Have tried repeatedly to PM you, but without success. I’m on FTTN: Meanwhile this is what happens: Internet (and VOIP) failing with increasing frequency. Seemed to come good when unplugging and re-plugging DSL, but later tests of this procedure were no good Symptom: Connection to node no good. Net down. WAN LED flashing slowly (2 per sec). Internet LED dark Unplug DSL and both go dark. Have now done a reset and all OK, but need to have permanent solution in case disabled wife alone and reliant on service I’d like to buy a new router How do I go about it?.

I also get this intermttently. The solution is not about security and the deliberate necessity to re-enter paswords. When the problem arises, even when the password is re-entered the pop-up still returns. Server is simply shown as 'pop.tpg.com.au' and the serial does not show in the pop-up. And a mail error is shown at the foot of the Outlook pane. This is an intermittent problem with one of TPG's fileservers, previously admitted by a rep on Whirlpool. It usually comes good after a period. It would be good if TPG could trace it and fix it permanently!

I have this problem only on a machine running Outlook 16, and to any adress except my own. All settinmgs checked. Tried 'repairing' no go. All settings checked.

This has resolved for me. My guess is that it was due to a restore from an out of date image. The same thing has changed my debit details as outlined in a separate thread.

TPG reps: Suddenly this month my TPG 79.99 standing arrangement with my bank was not debited. Looking at my TPG account I see it has been changed to credit card. I did not ask for that and I do not want it as if my elderly wife is left alone I do not want her hassled by credit card expiry dates. Who changed it and why? Change it back please! This is similar to the 'expired certificate' issue that many have had. Both at once suggests that part of the TPG system was restored from out of date backups. Incidentally the complaints email on TPG's page is not valid!

My regular correspondent got the same thing yesterday. The problem is not continuous. There is an ongoing fault with TPGs email system. Several of us have raised it on Whirlpool. I posted here about it and that post was mysteriously lost!

All yesterday and still this morning, the mailserver system has been up and down, repeatedly asking for password. Also, a regular correspondent reports (by phone) at being intermittently unable to send emails to me. Meanwhile, net and forums working fine so not my end. This has happened in the past years from time to time, and usually fixed within an hour. This time it is more than 24 hrs! No mention on service status. A number of us are reporting this on Whirlpool.

Yes Joseph. It did eventually come good, although during the time it was repeatedly asking for a password I could not get into the TPG Post Office either. When it came good, I got a shoal of spam that got through depite my filters on the TPG Post Office so I suppose the issues are related?

Many thanks Basil. I use Outlook 2013 usually (I have several machines). I deleted by accident. I also check frequently via the TPG Post Office (mainly to see how the spam filters I set up are working). However, I have now found an old printed copy of that email and attachment and have used that, so I don't now need you to help retrieve that email.. Many thanks for offering to help!

Hi Manuel Thanks for your reply. I suspected as much. I did not click on any link, so did not see any request for details. But these were odd because they appeared to use genuine tpg customer addresses, (but not 'support@' although they said support).
